The first time I visited WDW as a vegetarian, and later as a vegan, I was a bit concerned - would I be able to find quick, satisfying meals beyond the typical burger and fries? I was pleasantly surprised to find that there are, in fact, quite a few choices throughout the parks and resorts, to meet the needs of many different diets. Below, you will find a chart showing many of the vegetarian options.

Vegan items, or items "veganizable" by omitting an ingredient or two, are noted in the comments section. Please use this only as a guideline -- things are always changing at WDW, and not everything here is verified. Please also note that I have not taken refined sugar into account, when researching vegan items. If you have allergies or other concerns, please ask a Cast Member for more information. Most counter service places should also have an ingredients list available by request.

For some vegan snack ideas, soft pretzels are all vegan. I believe that all Disney french fries are vegan, except for those clearly advertised as McDonald's fries. (I believe that McDonald's has discontinued the beef flavoring, but they may contain dairy and wheat). There are also fresh fruit carts in all the theme parks, with some surprisingly tasty choices. And I was surprised to learn that the popcorn sold in all the parks is, despite its "buttery" appearance, vegan.

Also, it's worth noting that while Disney generally frowns upon outside food being brought into the parks, this policy is waived for special dietary needs. I often bring a vegan snack bar with me, "just in case." After all, this is a vacation -- if a favorite snack from home will ease your mind (and your hunger pains), it's worth having it handy. (However, alcoholic beverages and hard-sided coolers are strictly prohibited.)

New update for 2009: note that the vegetarian burgers served at the counter service locations have recently changed from the more "hamburger-like" Boca Burgers, to a very veggie Gardenburger. Also, the buns are no longer vegan, but a vegan substitute is available by request.

The Vegetarian Pages are now maintained by Kitty Smith, a vegan. Kitty is going through the Vegetarian pages and updating the information. Feel free to send her updates or ask questions!

Main Street, USA Main Street Bake Shop Fresh Fruits, Assorted Pastries and Cakes They now carry some Divvies - prepackaged vegan chocolate chip cookies and caramel corn! Other pastries are probably not vegan - ask for ingredients list
Adventureland El Pirata y el Perico

(Seasonal)

*Vegetarian Tacos

*Kids' Quesadillas

I have not eaten here since the last menu change, but the Vegetarian Tacos appear to be vegan – ask for ingredients list to be sure. Kids' Quesadillas have cheese.
 Frontierland Pecos Bill's *Chicken Salad, (ordered without meat).

*Vegetarian Burger
Chicken Salad is vegan when requested without chicken and cheese. While not as impressive as it used to be, it's still a great salad.

Vegetarian Burger is most likely the current vegan "very veggie" Gardenburger (ask for ingredients list to confirm) but you will need to request a vegan bun.
 Frontierland Golden Oak Outpost *Vegetarian Flatbread Wrap
The flatbread wrap is actually vegan! (Kitty can e-mail the ingredients list, if needed.)
Liberty Square Columbia Harbour House

*Lighthouse Sandwich (with hummus and broccoli slaw)

*Vegetarian Chili

*Garden Harvest Salad (ordered w/out chicken; includes garden veggies, cheese and sunflower seeds)

*Kids' macaroni & cheese

Lighthouse Sandwich may be vegan (ask for ingredients list -- broccoli slaw may have dairy). Chili is vegan. Salad should be vegan when ordered without chicken and cheese. (Please note that while I have always received good service here, others have reported receiving a salad with chicken after requesting the alteration.)

Fantasyland Pinocchio's Village Haus

*Vegetable or Cheese Individual Pizza (with or without salad)

*Mediterranean Salad (ordered without chicken)
includes roasted red peppers, black olives, red onions and mozzarella cheese)

Mediterranean Salad should be vegan if ordered without meat and cheese.

(Note that the Caesar Salad with Chicken most likely is not vegetarian even without the chicken. Caesar dressing traditionally includes anchovies.)

Tomorrowland Cosmic Ray's Starlight Café *Vegetarian Wrap (with fruit or chips)

*Vegetarian Burger (with fruit or fries)

*Kids' Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich
Not sure of ingredients in Vegetarian Wrap. Vegetarian burger is a vegan "very veggie" Gardenburger (and they have a great toppings bar here!), but you will need to ask for a vegan bun.
  Tomorrowland
Terrace Noodle Station

(seasonal)

*Vegetable Noodle Bowl with Tofu

*Teriyaki Tofu with Steamed Rice

The Vegetable Noodle Bowl has dairy. However, the Teriyaki Tofu with steamed rice is vegan.

*Soups & Salads - Kids' Macaroni & Cheese

*Sandwiches - Grilled Vegetable Cuban Sandwich

*Grab 'n' Go - Kids' Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich

The Asian Vegetarian Entree is vegan (and happens to be this vegan's favorite counter-service meal).

The Grilled Vegetable Cuban Sandwich may be veganizable with modification, but it seems to depend on who's working at the time. Some have been told yes, others no.

**Whole Wheat Vegetable Wrap (with hummus, veggies, balsamic vinaigrette and apple slices)

*Tossed Island Chicken Salad (Ordered w/out chicken; includes mango, pineapple & raisins, in a fat-free Italian dressing)

I'm not sure of the ingredients in the Vegetable Wrap - sounds vegan, but ask for ingredients list to be sure.

The salad has changed since last time I ate here. At the time, they were able to make a vegan version, but it required some extra wait time, as the salads here are pre-prepared.

Near Test Track Cool Wash Pizza 7" Cheese Pizza. (Not vegan.)
World Showcase Plaza Promenade Refreshments *Pretzel, Cinnamon & Sugar Pretzel The plain pretzel is vegan, but please note that the cinnamon & sugar variety has both dairy and eggs.

Fish Shop

*Might be able to order a side of chips (not currently listed on menu)
(Not 100% sure how these are cooked - may be cooked in same oil as fish.)
France Boulangerie Patisserie * assorted pastries They may carry Divvies (prepackaged vegan treats). Other pastries are most likely not vegan, but they should have an ingredients list on hand. The French Baguette is your most likely bet.
Morocco Tangierine Cafe *Vegetable Platter (falafel, tangierine couscous salad, hummus, tabouleh, lentil salad and marinated olives)

*Various side dishes

The Vegetable Platter has changed since my last visit, so you may want to check on the ingredients. The couscous salad, hummus, tabouleh and olives should be vegan. Not sure of the falafel, and the lentil salad may have dairy.

Japan Outdoor Kaki-Gori stand
* strawberry, honeydew,
tangerine & rainbow Kaki-Gori (like a snowcone, only better!)
Vegan - and the perfect treat on a hot summer day.

Vegetarian burger is a vegan "very veggie" Gardenburger, but you will need to request a vegan bun.

China Lotus Blossom Cafe * Nothing *

I've been told that everything here is prepared with chicken stock, even if it says "vegetarian".
Norway Kringla Bakeri og Kafe Various pastries and other sweets
They may have Divvies (prepackaged vegan treats). At one time, a vegan bear claw was offered here - if you see it, be sure to ask for ingredients list, to be sure.

Mexico Cantina de San Angel * black refried beans

* churro

* bean burrito or taco, by request
Although not much is vegetarian or vegan as listed on the menu, the staff will prepare anything they can with ingredients on hand. The beans and tortillas are all vegan. Churros have eggs.

Sunset Blvd. Starring Rolls
Cafe
* Whole Wheat Veggie Pita (with chips or fruit)

* Kids' Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich

* various pastries and sweets

The Whole Wheat Veggie Pita was vegan, last time I checked. (You may want to confirm this with a Cast Member.)

Most of the pastries and sweets have dairy and/or eggs, but you may want to ask for an ingredients list.

  Catalina Eddie's

* cheese pizza

* Mixed Greens Salad

Nothing vegan except possibly the salad (ask for ingredients list).
  Anaheim Produce * soft pretzels

* assorted fresh fruit and veggies
The pretzels are vegan. Good selection of fruit. I often make a lunch from a soft pretzel and fresh fruit. Mmmmm.
  Rosie's All-American Cafe

* Vegetarian Cheeseburger (with potato salad or fries)

* Mixed Greens Salad

I believe that the cheeseburger is made with the vegan "very veggie" Gardenburger. If so, you should be able to order it without the cheese (and fries, instead of potato salad), for a vegan meal, but you will need to ask for a vegan bun.

Not sure about the salad (ask for ingredients list).

Echo Lake Peevy's Frozen Concoctions

* frozen Coca-cola and Minute Maid treats

* fresh fruit and pickles

Whole fruits and pickles are vegan. Carrots, celery and apples come with sauces that are not vegan. If you don't mind the sugar, the frozen drinks are vegan and nice on a hot day.
  Min & Bill's
Dockside Diner
* Dockside Salad (mixed greens, onion, tomato, egg, avocado, blue-cheese, and a vinaigrette dressing) The salad should be vegan if you ask for it without the egg and cheese. (Note that the Chicken Caesar Salad most likely is not vegetarian even without the chicken. Caesar dressing traditionally includes anchovies.)
  Backlot Express * Grilled Vegetable Sandwich (black olive ciabatta roll, mushrooms, red peppers, zucchini, tomato, watercress and cheese with sundried tomato pesto and black bean salad)

This sandwich is vegan, if ordered without the cheese. You may have to wait a bit longer for them to prepare it, but it's a very tasty and filling meal.

There is also a Southwest Salad with Chicken on the menu - it may be vegan without the chicken - ask for ingredients list (not sure about the tortilla or dressing).

Streets of America Toy Story Pizza Planet

* individual cheese pizza

* individual veggie pizza

* tossed salad

Other than the salad, nothing vegan.
  Studio Catering Co.

* Greek Salad (with olive and feta vinaigrette)

* Kids' Mac & Cheese

*Kid's PB&J

* assorted coffee drinks

Not sure of ingredients in Greek salad - ask for ingredients list.
  Writer's Stop

* assorted coffee drinks

Vegans should ask for ingredients list, though I'd guess that most of this is not vegan.
Commissary Lane ABC Commissary * Asian salad Ask for ingredients list.

Safari Village Pizzafari

* cheese pizza

* bread sticks with cheese & marinara sauce

* Kids' Mac and Cheese

Unfortunately, nothing here is vegan.

Africa Harambe Fruit Market * Fresh Fruit, fruit & cheese plate, pickles Good selection of fruit including grapes, pineapple and watermelon. The soft pretzels are vegan. They also have celery and carrot sticks.
Dinoland Restaurantosaurus * Vegetarian Burger

* Mandarin Chicken Salad (minus chicken; with Mandarin oranges, tossed in a Mandarin Orange Sesame Ginger dressing)
Ask first, but I believe that the burger is the vegan "very veggie" Gardenburger, but you will need to ask for a vegan bun. I believe the salad is also vegan, if ordered without chicken.
Discovery Island Flame Tree BBQ

* Fruit Plate (with honey yogurt)

While not much of a choice, this is a nice plate of fruit, and when ordered without the honey yogurt, it is vegan.

Asia Yak & Yeti Counter Service * NONE * You might ask for an ingredients list of the Mandarin Chicken Salad (minus the chicken). Otherwise, nothing on the menu appears vegetarian or vegan.
