International Food and Wine Festival
Discover Andalucia, Spain, located between African Outpost and the Germany pavilion in World Showcase, will feature flavorful tapas, olives, oils and famous sherries of the region, as well as Flamenco dancers and artisans. Diverse foods and new world wines from South Africa are among other new festival offerings. The new Eat to the Beat concert series includes three performances every festival evening with pop acts that include The Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards (Oct. 19-23); Mary Wilson of the Supremes (Oct. 24-28); Sister Sledge (Oct. 29-Nov. 2); Little Anthony and the Imperials (Nov. 3-7); The 5th Dimension (Nov. 8-12); and Chubby Checker & the Wildcats (Nov. 13-17). The festival includes complimentary wine and beer tastings and free culinary demonstrations. Entrance is included with regular Epcot admission. LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Its Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party and guests are in for lots of treats and attractions: Seven nights of far-from-frightening Disney Halloween fun you wont find during the day. Dates for this years party are Oct. 11, 17, 20, 25, 27, 31 and Nov. 1. Guests are invited to trick-or-treat throughout the Magic Kingdom from 7 p.m. to midnight each evening and see Mickeys Boo-to-You Halloween Parade starring Mickey and the gang (held twice nightly) plus Mouse-Ka-Rade parties where kids can join the characters in special costume parades. The party also features live music, DJs, storytellers and a complimentary family photo. Guests will even see Disney characters decked out in their not-so-scariest. Finally, the black night crackles with Halloween Fantasy in the Sky fireworks! Advance tickets are $27.95 plus tax for guests ages 10 and up, and $22.95 plus tax for children ages 3-9. Tickets at the gate (based on availability) are $29.95 plus tax and $24.95 plus tax for ages 3-9. (Note: Guests, especially children, are invited to wear costumes. For information, guests can contact any Walt Disney World ticket location and Ticketmaster, or call 407/W-DISNEY. ********** Walt Disney World Golf Classic, Oct. 17-20 LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- A field of 144 top PGA TOUR players heads to the tees at Walt Disney World Resort on Oct. 17-20 for the 2002 Walt Disney World Golf Classic. The Classic, now in its 32nd year, boasts a $3.7 million purse -- its biggest ever -- including a record winners share of $666,000. Tiger Woods is expected to return to the Classic for the seventh consecutive year to vie for the championship title he won in 1996 and 1999. Woods, the worlds No. 1 player, finished in a five-way tie for 16th in the 2001 Classic as he watched Jose Coceres of Argentina edge Davis Love III for the victory. Coceres will return to Disney to defend his title. Other players to watch are expected to include PGA Championship winner Rich Beem and U.S. Ryder Cup team members Stewart Cink, Jim Furyk, Love and Scott Verplank. Other names of note are Chris DiMarco, rookie of the year candidate Peter Lonard, Bernhard Langer, Jerry Kelly and Fred Funk. Play will be on Disneys Magnolia and Palm courses, both Joe Lee designs. The 7,201-yard Magnolia has hosted the Classic for 31 years, tying for 10th longest continuing streak as host to a PGA TOUR event. The adjacent Palm course plays 6,957 yards and has been used continuously on the TOUR since 1972, placing it 12th on the same list. Admission tickets are available in advance of the Classic. Daily Tickets (Thursday or Friday $15; Saturday $20; Sunday $25) and Weekly Badges ($50) can be purchased through Ticketmaster by calling 407/839-3900. LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- The Disney princesses -- Belle, Jasmine, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Mary Poppins -- are special guests at the new Princess Fairytale Breakfast at Restaurant Akershus in Norway at Epcot. The World Showcase eatery, inspired by the famous 14th century Castle Akershus in the city of Oslo, Norway, is the perfect setting for a royal family-style breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potato casserole, freshly baked breakfast breads, seasonal fruit, juice, French toast sticks, juice, coffee, tea and milk. Hours are 8:30-10:30 a.m. daily. Call 407/WDW-DINE for priority seating. Cost is $15.99, $8.99 ages 3-11.
