Hanunted Mansion Set EntranceINTRODUCTION --
In the tradition of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Disney has made another movie based on a popular Magic Kingdom attraction. The Haunted Mansion movie is due to be released this fall and an actual set from the film is temporarily on exhibit in Disney's Hollywood Studios, located along Mickey Avenue, near One Man's Dream.

ATTRACTION -- The Making of the Haunted Mansion Movie is located next to the One Man's Dream attraction, making it hard to locate. Once you enter the building, however, there is a photo gallery on both sides of the wall of various Haunted Mansion photos. A Cast Member is your tour guide, along with video clips and a brief time to explore on your own. The entire presentation lasts about 15 minutes.

Haunted Mansion SetThe Ballroom is that of Gracey Mansion. The organ image was taken directly from the Magic Kingdom's Haunted Mansion attraction. In the movie, they had to portray the
mansion/ballroom as it was in the late 1800s and also today.

The video clip features producer Don Hahn explaining some of the "making of" techniques. There are also several costumes from the movie, as well as Haunted Mansion attraction sound effects, such as the bells.

This is a temporary exhibit, scheduled to be on display for about only six months.

TOURING TIPS

Photographs are not allowed in this attraction.

GUEST COMMENTS -- From Cheryl: I was at Disney's Hollywood Studios today and went to the "Behind the Scenes" look at the Haunted Mansion movie. First of all, it isn't easy to find -- well-marked, but confusing due to its proximity to the One Man's Dream Walt Disney Exhibit. It's about a 20-minute wait in between "shows." Once you're allowed inside the soundstage you see some of the mockups and illustrations that led to the ride and the movie, before turning the corner and walking into the actual ballroom set. I was just floored by the magnitude and detail in it. There is a great behind the scenes video and the Cast Member tour guide gives you a bit of background on the film's plot. There are also several costumes, etc. Well worth the wait if you were ever a fan of the ride. Bummer that no photography is allowed.

Deb Wills also toured the exhibit last weekend and adds that while the display was fascinating, she would advise not waiting more than one tour cycle to view it. The tour is very controlled and your viewing time is limited.

KIDS AND CHARACTERS

Disney Characters are not found in this attraction, however, they do make appearances along Mickey Avenue. Check your daily Times Guide for specific times and locations in Disney's Hollywood Studios.

DINING

There is no place to eat in the immediate vicinity of this attraction.

SHOPPING

Believe it or not, there is no shopping area located in the immediate vicinity of this attraction, but there are carts located along Mickey Avenue selling a variety of items.

INTERESTING FACTS

There are 999 Happy Haunts in the movie and the costume designers had to come up with a unique look for each of them. When you see one of the ghosts, they want you to be able to tell what happened to them when they died.
