Wandering Around the World Earth Day at Walt Disney World April 22, 2006

Senior Editor Debra Martin Koma wandered around
Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom to see the Earth Day activities.

Earth Day 2006
at Animal Kingdom.
Lots of characters out and about,
including Disney's
"conservation mascot," Jiminy Cricket, making a rare appearance (both at the front of the park and Conservation Station!).
Most activities were held at Rafiki's Planet Watch — there were ladybug and butterfly releases, kids' crafts and hands-on displays. Other performers, Pipa, the talking recycle bin, and Guitar-Dan included environmental messages in their shows.

At the Magic Kingdom, at the Swan Boat Dock, they had a few displays on creative ways to recycle things — like making Christmas ornaments out of old Disney pins. We released some lady bugs on the rose bushes, and
Jiminy Cricket was on hand from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for photos.
