The Cat in the Hat

Introduction | Attraction | Touring Tips | Kids/Characters | Dining | Shopping | Interesting Facts

INTRODUCTION

Located in the center of Seuss Landing, just look for the giant striped hat on top of the entrance for this attraction based on Dr. Seuss's most popular and beloved story of the mischievous Cat In the Hat, Thing 1 and Thing 2 and the day they spend wreaking havoc while Mom's away.

Cat in the Hat VehicleATTRACTION

The Cat in the Hat -- While working your way through the queue of this showcase attraction with its curved railings, be sure to keep an eye on the far wall for cute sayings that suddenly appear every so often. Your ride vehicle is a six-passenger couch that will spin, twist and rock as you pass by 18 separate scenes that bring this crazy childhood story to life, with more than 30 robotic characters. As The Cat and Thing 1 and Thing 2 tear up the house, the goldfish in the teapot is the voice of reason and finally warns them of Mom's return. As in the book, everything works out in the end. This attraction is a must-see regardless of your age. It's a treat for all of your senses... especially your sense of humor.

TOURING TIPS

INTERESTING FACTS

The Cat In The Hat attraction can accommodate up to 1800 guests per hour.

Everything in Seuss Landing was approved by Mrs. Giesel (Dr. Seuss' Wife) and was a main provision of the project.

Dr. Seuss never drew straight lines in his illustrations. Everything was curved, slanted or "wonky". Therefore, there are no straight lines in Seuss Landing, which covers 10 acres. Everything is curved, including the palms trees and queue rails. Many of the odd-shaped palm trees were transplanted from South Florida and were the results of the fury of Hurricane Andrew.

The background music you hear in Seuss Landing was created by some strange instruments such a harp made with rubber bands instead of strings.

Dr. Seuss books have been translated into 27 different languages.
