Marilyn Monroe at Univeral StudiosIntroduction

As you enter Universal Studios, one of the first themed areas you can venture into is Hollywood. This is not today's Hollywood by any means. This is vintage Hollywood from its Glamorous Golden era.  Hollywood Boulevard is lined with memories of days gone by -- The Mocambo Club, Schwab's Pharmacy where many stars were discovered including Lana Tuner. The Brown Derby is represented here, but don't expect a Cobb Salad at this Brown Derby -- the only things you will get here are hats, hats and more hats. Keep your eye out for Lucy and Ricky or Marilyn Monroe and who- knows-who-else wandering down Hollywood Boulevard.

Attractions and Entertainment

Universal Horror Make-Up Show - Universal make-up artists create special effects with audience participation and lots of comedy. Before entering the theater, be sure to check out the authentic props from the film Van Helsing in the lobby. Note: This show may scare young children. Universal Express Attraction.

Terminator 2: 3-D Battle Across Time - Futuristic mix of live action and special effects in a 3-D film.  Universal Express Attraction.

Lucy A Tribute - See the world's most famous redhead's costumes, home movies, scripts and more. Play trivia or learn some extensive history at your own pace. Great place to visit for any Lucille Ball fan.

Character Zone Meet and Greet - Stop by and get a few autographs in front of the "Lucy A Tribute" and "Silver Screen Collectibles". Characters will vary but generally include The Rugrats, Wilma and Fred Flintstone, Shrek and Princess Fiona, Sponge Bob, Jimmy Neutron and other cartoon and Hollywood characters. Check your park guide for times.

Places to Eat

Beverly Hills Boulangerie - Counter Service with carved sandwiches, salads and soups. Desserts and pastries are a must-have here because most are provided by the CheeseCake Factory. Yum!  Breakfast is available.

Cafe La Bamba - This counter service restaurant, housed within a replica of the famous Hollywood Hotel, features Rotisserie Chicken and BBQ Ribs with indoor and patio seating. Happy hour available at the Cantina. Located on Sunset Blvd.

Mel's Drive-InMel's Drive-In - '50s-themed Counter Service Restaurant with great Burgers, Fries, Onion Rings and Shakes. Enjoy your meal in authentic '50s-style booths complete with jukeboxes. After your meal check out the cars from the '50s parked in the lot. The only thing missing here are Roller Skating Car Hops.

Schwab's Pharmacy - Counter Service with Sundaes, Floats and Snacks.

Universal Studios Restaurants at a Glance

Places to Shop

Silver Screen Collectibles - Located right next to "Lucy A Tribute" this store features Hollywood memorabilia. Plenty of books, clothes, dolls and more. This store is shoppers' paradise for Betty Boop and Lucy collectors.

Cyber Image - Terminator merchandise with action figures, shirts, caps, toys, DVDs and more.

Brown Derby Hat Shop - What can we say? Hats of all kinds.

Studio Styles -- This store is the newest shopping experience in Hollywood. Studio Styles is the new home to the replica jewelry collections of Ava Gardner, Lana Turner and others glamorous female stars of the 1940s and '50s. Also available for purchase are framed black and white photos of Marilyn Monroe and other famous Hollywood celebrities of days gone by. Be sure to check out the Hollywood Mural along the ceiling. This shop looks more like a Hollywood display rather than a shop, but most items are available for purchase. Located on Hollywood Boulevard next to Schwab's Pharmacy.
