It can be hard to decipher what is actually coming to the parks versus what is just ideas being thrown around. Well, we are here today to help!

We have seen lots of concept art and presentations about what could be coming to Disney World, but what has truly been confirmed? To be honest, not a whole lot. However, we are breaking down everything Disney has officially announced regarding the expansion plans.

Disney World

Magic Kingdom

Let’s start off in Magic Kingdom! Magic Kingdom has been mentioned in expansion plans a lot recently and there has been a lot of talk about what will be “Beyond Thunder Mountain.” We have seen concept art for what might be coming to the area, but so far, we don’t know a lot that will officially be in the expansion.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

We do know that there will be a new Pirates of the Caribbean Lounge coming to Magic Kingdom. We don’t have very many details on this new lounge, except that it will be coming. We don’t know when or exactly where in Magic Kingdom it will even be.

The only other piece of information we know for sure is that Disney recently announced that they are about to file a permit for storm drainage and other foundational work “Beyond Big Thunder Mountain.” Executives have compared this expansion in size to Pandora and Galaxy’s Edge, and this type of permit is very common before a new ride, attraction, or land. We have heard mentions of Coco, Encanto, or a Villains-themed land, but nothing has been confirmed.

We do also know about two attractions that will be opening this summer in Magic Kingdom, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Country Bear Musical Jamboree. Both of these attractions are currently in the process of being reimagined and will be open in Magic Kingdom soon.

Now let’s head over to Animal Kingdom to see what we know about what is coming there!

There has also been lots of talk about the reimagining of DinoLand U.S.A. in Animal Kingdom. But what has actually been confirmed?

Animal Kingdom

So far, we really only know two things about the changes coming to Animal Kingdom. It has been confirmed that a Zootopia Show will be replacing It’s Tough to Be a Bug at the Tree of Life Theater.

As well, we recently received confirmation that DinoLand will be getting reimagined as a Tropical Americas theme. We don’t have any details beyond that or any timelines for the replacement. There have been mentions of Encanto and/or Indiana Jones areas coming to the new Tropical Americas land, but no official confirmation.

Finally, let’s touch on some of the projects going on over in EPCOT.

EPCOT

Finally, we wanted to touch on EPCOT as it has been undergoing a massive transformation that is almost complete! The CommuniCore Hall & Plaza will be opening on June 10th, 2024. The opening will also be bringing a new Encanto show to EPCOT.

Additionally in EPCOT, we have received confirmation that Test Track will be reimagined. The attraction will be closing on June 17th, 2024, to undergo the renovation. We do not have a reopening date for Test Track yet.

Hollywood Studios has not been receiving a lot of love with expansion plans, and currently there are no big plans for Hollywood Studios. However, it seems as though Disney World already has a lot on their plate with what they are planning.
