If you thought we’d seen the last of the pool closures at Disney World hotels, guess again!
Some of the most popular Disney World hotel pools have been closed for a good portion of this year already including places like the Fuentes del Morro Pool at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. So if you FINALLY thought you’d found a moderate Disney World hotel with a main feature pool reopened, you might be shocked to learn it has closed AGAIN!
We were patient with Disney’s Port Orleans Resort French Quarter’s main pool when it initially went on refurbishment early this year. Most of the time, this means the pool undergoes routine maintenance while also getting a few touch-ups to things like decor, paint, and even pool deck furniture swapped out.
We were so excited to find that it had reopened at the beginning of April — in time for a busy end to the spring season and just before summer started to kick off! But, if you were banking on being able to splash about once again in this great pool, we’ve got news to share with you.
Unfortunately, due to unexpected maintenance, the Doubloon Lagoon Pool is once again closed, Disney shared with travel agents. However, it only seems to be the main pool because the spa and children’s activity areas are still open from 10 AM to 11 PM daily. The first closure was planned, but this one caught us off guard.
Before you work feverishly at changing your Disney World hotel stay, it’s important to note that during the pool’s closure, a shuttle service will be provided to Disney’s Port Orleans Resort Riverside (these are sister hotels) where you’ll be able to enjoy the Ol’ Man Island Pool. The shuttle service will run between both sides of Disney’s Port Orleans Resort from 10 AM to 11 PM.
So while it is a bit of a bummer, there is still a nearby feature pool that’s just a short shuttle trip away and it will allow you to see another side of the hotel to compare for your future Disney World visits.
