Disney World’s 50th anniversary is not the first time Disney has hosted a BIG celebration for a milestone.
If you’re an 80s or 90s kid, you may remember the controversial way Disney World celebrated its 25th anniversary, and soon Genie+ will give guests a special perk related to Cinderella Castle’s iconic decor from that time.
To celebrate Disney World’s 25th anniversary back in 1996, Disney transformed Cinderella Castle into a giant pink birthday cake for the entire 15-month celebration. There were people who loved it, and lots of people who hated it.
If you never got the chance to see this…um…giant pink cake in person, Genie+ will kind of give you the chance to pretend like you did. Genie+, which is a paid-for component of the Disney Genie, will have a new AR filter that lets guests take selfies with birthday cake Cinderella Castle!
So whether you want to pretend it’s 1996 again or get the photo you never got of this iconic castle, Genie+ customers will be able to get the birthday cake selfies and photos of their dreams. There are more AR filters too on Genie+ too, including Lady and the Tramp and Ratatouille!
