We’ve Got Good News and Bad News About the Roundup Rodeo BBQ Restaurant in Disney World

Howdy, partners! We moseyed on down to Disney’s Hollywood Studios recently to check in on one of the newest restaurants in Toy Story Land. When we got there, we were fixin’ for a warm plate of fried pickles and a fresh bowl of loaded tots. Mmmm…we could practically smell the side dishes in our minds.

But alas! When we got to Roundup Rodeo BBQ, we learned that there were some BIG menu changes. Giddyup! Let’s see what’s changed at Roundup Rodeo BBQ.

In the past, Roundup Rodeo offered a pretty impressive collection of side dishes on the menu. There were eight total sides, and your party could select four for the table. We loved having all those options during a previous visit and quite enjoyed those side dishes.

Before the menu change, Disney offered:

  • The Married Spuds: Loaded potato barrels drizzled with green goddess dressing, cheese sauce, and seasoned BBQ spices
  • Force Field Fried Pickles: Jumbo pickle spears coated with a dill-flavored breading and fried to perfection
  • Slinky Doooooooooog’s Mac & Cheese: Spiral pasta in a creamy house-made cheese sauce topped with crumbled cheddar crackers
  • Buckin’ Baked Beans: A traditional BBQ picnic favorite (plant-based)
  • Cowpoke Corn on the Cob: Grilled and seasoned with a chili-lime spice blend, cilantro, cotija cheese, and lime juice
  • Mean Old Potato Salad: Homestyle with red-skinned potatoes
  • The Claw! Veggie Slaw: Crunchy shredded veggie slaw that is a summertime favorite! (plant-based)
  • Campfire-roasted Vegetables: A variety of roasted seasonal vegetables (plant-based)
This was the OLD menu

But now, Disney offers five sides total, and instead of choosing four, the table gets all five sides. Those five side dishes are:

  • The Claw! Veggie Slaw
  • Buckin’ Baked Beans
  • Cowpoke Corn on the Cob: Grilled Street Corn
  • Slinky Doooooooooog’s Mac & Cheese
  • Potato Barrels

That means the Force Field Fried Pickles, Mean Old Potato Salad, and Campfire-roasted Vegetables are no longer available. According to a Cast Member, the change is here to stay, though Disney has not officially commented on the menu update. We were also informed that this change simplifies things for the guests and the kitchen. The good news is that we get one more side dish with our meal, so that’s a win!

We will miss those fried pickles, though. Look at those glorious spears of fried deliciousness. Oh, well. We can still get our fried pickle fix at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

We’ll be sure to keep our eyes out for any other changes. In fact, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen this restaurant make a little change. Disney used to give guests a BIG pencil when it was time for the check, but these days, the writing implements are normal-sized. We’re still a little sad about this one, too.

It’s HUGE!

So long, partners! Thanks for saddlin’ up with us for a little Roundup Rodeo update. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.

  1. What menu change I would REALLY like to see is adding a la carte selections for seniors or solo travelers. This is waaay to much food for a lot of guests.

  2. The best (and prob most expensive for wdw to produce) have now been taken away. Another restaurant will now be lowering its quality for the almighty $. It is expected anymore.
