Disney Adults Seriously MISS This Abandoned Attraction in the Middle of a BUSY Part of Magic Kingdom

Over the years, many Disney World attractions have come and gone.

Cinderella Castle

Good thing this post isn’t about EPCOT or else it’d take a few years (yeah, I said it), but Magic Kingdom has its fair share of closed attractions. We talk about Stitch’s Great Escape (and therefore also Alien ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter) all the time, but today, we’re REALLY throwing it back to an experience a lot of Disney adults really miss.

Like so many things, Pirates League in Magic Kingdom closed in 2020. This was an experience right near Pirates of the Caribbean in Magic Kingdom that was for children and adults alike. Here, you could turn into a pirate with your own special look and name and leave your mundane life behind!

Pirates League

You’d start the experience by getting your Official Pirate Name as recorded from the leather-bound captain’s log, then stop by the Muster Station for your physical transformation. Lastly, you headed over to Secret Room for your portrait and to see where the Pirate Masters keep their hidden treasure.

The sign was still there as of July 2023!

They had 4 different makeover packages to choose from, which started at $29.95 and went as high as $99.95. The packages were:

  • The Jake and the Never Land Pirates or Jake and the Never Land Pirates Deluxe
  • “The First Mate” or “Empress”
  • The Captain Hook Deluxe Package
  • Mermaid or Mermaid Deluxe

Since the closure, this area hasn’t been used for guests. It may or may not be a break room for Cast Members, but we don’t know for sure. Seeing this experience return does feel like it’s unlikely, but we’re still holding out hope!

The only similar experience in the park is Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, which is only for kids ages 3-12, and packages start at $99.95 for Princess Packages and $19.95 for the Knight Package.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on this spot though, because who knows if/when it could turn into something. We do know there’s a Pirates of the Caribbean Lounge coming to Disney World — could it wind up in this spot? Be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest Disney news!

  1. The Pirates League should come back. We enjoyed it immensely as Disney fans. It still gave the magic of joining Jack Sparrow and the band of brethren. We are pirates at heart.
