Picture this: you’re cruising through Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland, feeling like Jack Sparrow on a mission. Suddenly, you spot this enchanting scene—a cozy restaurant glowing with candles, lanterns swinging gently, and fireflies dancing in the air. You’re like, “Whoa, what’s this hidden gem?” Well, my friend, that’s none other than Blue Bayou, where the vibes of old New Orleans meet the Louisiana bayou, back when steamboats ruled the Mississippi.

If you’re itching to experience the magic of Blue Bayou, here’s the scoop: since it’s nestled snugly inside Disneyland, you gotta have your Disneyland ticket and a theme park reservation on lock to even get through the gates.

Now, once you’re in, head straight to New Orleans Square and keep your peepers peeled for 31 Royal Street. That’s where the adventure begins! Swing a right at the Pirates of the Caribbean ride exit, and voilà, you’ve arrived at Blue Bayou.

You’ll be dining indoors, right by the water, with the Pirates of the Caribbean ride setting the mood nearby. Talk about immersive dining, am I right?

Now, here’s the savvy part: skip the lines by using the mobile check-in feature on the Disneyland app. Once you’re checked in, kick back in the waiting area, and they’ll shoot you a text when your table’s good to go. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!

Atmosphere

Let’s set the scene for this culinary adventure at Blue Bayou! You’re whisked away to what feels like an outdoor plantation patio nestled in the mysterious bayous of the night. It’s forever twilight here, with colorful lanterns casting a warm glow over your table, and wisteria vines gently swaying in the breeze. Shooting stars streak across the dark skies, and the air is filled with the chorus of crickets and rustling leaves. And get this: your table is illuminated by the flickering dance of candlelight, adding to the enchantment.

Now, here’s the kicker: while it feels like you’re dining al fresco, you’re actually in a cozy, air-conditioned indoor space. So you can enjoy the perfect weather without breaking a sweat. It’s the ideal spot to chill out and recharge before diving back into the theme park hustle and bustle.

And let’s talk threads, buddy. No need to bust out your Sunday best; comfy theme park attire is the way to go. So kick back, relax, and let the good times roll.

Booking a Reservation

Now, snagging a spot at Blue Bayou is like scoring VIP tickets to a sold-out show. But fear not, my friend, I’ve got some pro tips to help you out.

First up, aim for that dining reservation like it’s the last slice of pizza at a party. These babies open up 60 days in advance at 3AM PT (talk about dedication!). But keep your eyes peeled, ’cause sometimes Disney throws us a curveball and releases ’em later.

Be flexible with your dining time. If you want dinner, try for a time earlier or later than those peaking dinner hours.

Now, if Lady Luck ain’t smiling your way, don’t sweat it. Snag any reservation that pops up, even if it’s not exactly what you wanted. You can always tweak it later, especially if you’re within sniffing distance of your actual party size. But use common sense; it should be a number relatively close to your actual party size (selecting 4 people when you have 3 versus selecting 2 people when you have 8). Just swing by the restaurant and chat ’em up—the Cast Members will usually do everything they can to help you.

Pirates Atmo

And don’t forget to keep checking the website or Disneyland APP for cancelation. Those happen all of the time, so you could still snag a reservation closer to your visit, if you don’t get one on that 60-day mark.

But hey, if all else fails, don’t overlook Café Orleans nearby. They’ve got some killer eats too, like Monte Cristo sandwiches and Mint Juleps that’ll knock your socks off. Plus, who can resist those Pommes Frites? It’s like a consolation prize that tastes like victory.

So there you have it, your roadmap to Blue Bayou bliss. Now go forth and conquer those reservations like a theme park pro!

  1. The Blue Bayou is a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. However, my personal experience and observation is that large groups (greater than 4) routinely get seated near the entrance to the restaurant and near the service doors. The ambiance is significantly degraded because it’s not so dark, it’s loud and people are always walking by your table. What you really pay for at the Blue Bayou is the ambience so before making a reservation for a group greater than 4 is, ask yourself, if you are seated near the entrance in a well lit area with lots of background noise, is it worth the money you’ll spend?
