Will Disney’s NEW Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Ride Use a Virtual Queue When It Opens?

UPDATE: Disney World announced that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will use a Virtual Queue when it opens on June 28th.

It’s 2024, and that means this is finally the year Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will arrive in both Disney World’s Magic Kingdom and Disneyland!

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is a retheme of Splash Mountain in both parks. The ride system is staying the exact same, but instead of being themed to Song of the South, it’s themed to The Princess and The Frog. But when this ride opens, can we expect a virtual queue? Here’s what we know!

Ever since Rise of The Resistance opened in Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney World (and often Disneyland) have used Virtual Queues for new rides to help mitigate crowds.

Virtual Queues do not cost anything extra and are available to all park guests with a park ticket that day. The queue opens up on the My Disney Experience App (or Disneyland App) at 7AM and 1PM. The queues fill up very fast, so you’ll want to grab your spot ASAP when those times hit.

All the rides that have used Virtual Queues in Disney World and Disneyland are:

  • Rise of the Resistance (Hollywood Studios and Disneyland)
  • Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure (EPCOT)
  • Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana (EPCOT)
  • Web Slingers (Disney California Adventure)
  • Indiana Jones Adventure (Disneyland)
  • Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway (Disneyland)
  • Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind (EPCOT)
  • TRON Lightcycle / Run (Magic Kingdom)

Currently Disneyland does not have any Virtual Queues, and Disney World has two — Cosmic Rewind and TRON Lightcycle / Run.

Based on the popularity of this incoming ride, we can expect that this means Tiana’s Bayou Adventure WILL have a virtual queue when it opens later in 2024, in both Disney World and Disneyland.

In Disney World, this may mean TRON leaves the Virtual Queue system and moves to a regular standby wait once Tiana’s opens up, but we cannot say for sure.

So what other rides does Disney have up its sleeve? Well, none that will use a Virtual Queue in the very near future. Country Bear Jamboree is currently in the process of being revised in Magic Kingdom, but it’s very unlikely that attraction will have a VQ. Test Track is also going to be majorly rethemed in EPCOT in the coming months, and it is more possible we could see a VQ for that since the ride may be changing pretty drastically.

  1. Tron is now showing on the Disney World app. Possibly an indication they’re planning on moving the VQ to Tiana when it opens like this article suspects.

  2. VQ is good for everyone except for working locals who can’t get to the park during the daytime! I personally hope this ride is not on one!
