Flights of Passage Queue Photography

As I mentioned in a recent Disney Pic of the Week, all attractions at Walt Disney World are currently using the Standby queues. Having only used the FastPass line in the past, walking the Flight of Passage queue in Pandora – World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom was a new and fun experience. For even more fun, I put on Fisheye f/2.8 lens to capture it all.

Bioluminescence colors surrounded the cave part of the queue before entering the Pandora Conservation Initiative Lab.

You might have noticed the first two photos did not look like they were taken with a Fisheye lens. I processed them to eliminate the effect like. Click here to learn more about the technique, Adjusting Disney Fisheye Photos.

Here are a couple of views of the PCI Lab.

For those who have seen the movie, here is Jake.

I decided to leave the fisheye effect in those two images as I liked how it helped to focus attention on the subjects in the frame.

Not sure what this area is called but it was a nice change from the low ceilinged lab.

People were kept far apart before entering the pre-shows. You can see the markers on the floor to keep groups six feet apart for safety during the pandemic. There was also plexiglass between the rows.

Only a few people were allowed in the pre-show chamber before entering the ride. After which I took a photo of the ride vehicles before existing.

As my sister would say to me, “Always make lemonade from lemons”. Seeing all the standby queues at Walt Disney World during the COVID-19 pandemic was definitely delicious lemonade.
