5 Reasons Disney Fans are MAD at EPCOT Right Now

EPCOT is Disney World’s second oldest park, having opened in 1982.

World Celebration Gardens in EPCOT

It’s been through a lot over the past 40+ years, and while it’s many guests’ favorite park, others have some gripes with it they’d like to have addressed ASAP. We reached out to our Facebook community to ask what their beef is with EPCOT, and we heard your answers loud and clear!

Not Enough Seating

Many Disney goers are angry at the fact that there’s not a lot of seating for EPCOT festivals, which happen most weeks of the year.

Very little seating

This means many EPCOT visitors have to eat standing up, sit on the ground, or on top of trashcans (which we’ve done, many times), so having some more tables that are SHADED (!!! that’s a big thing, Disney) would be a huge upgrade.

That World Showcase Has Barely Been Updated in 30+ Years

The last World Showcase Pavilion added was Norway in 1988. And yes, Frozen Ever After replaced Maelstrom in 2016 and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure opened in 2021, but other than that, there’s been no significant updates to the World Showcase since it opened.

World Showcase

That’s something else a lot of Disney World fans are mad about, because that’s HALF of EPCOT! To not have a lot of growth in that area for over 3 decades is a pretty big deal, and people are really starting to want some more rides (not ride REPLACEMENTS, but new rides) and/or some new pavilions to explore.

THE. WALLS.

Yep, you knew it’d be on here. EPCOT goers are STILL not happy about all the walls here, there, and everywhere around the park.

Ugh

All the walls were supposed to be down at the end of 2023, and then that didn’t happen, and we’re still waiting on two of the largest aspects of the EPCOT Transformation to be complete. By the time it’s done, people will already be wanting ANOTHER transformation, since this one took about five years.

Disney says Communicore Hall and Plaza will be complete this June!

Many Educational Aspects Are Gone

When EPCOT opened, there were many aspects of the park that were educational for people of all ages. Some were a little intense, like The Making of Me, and others were fan favorites, like Cranium Command. However, virtually all of these educational aspects are gone now.

While we do have Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana to teach us about the water cycle, that’s about it. You could argue that Awesome Planet in The Land pavilion teaches guests about the dangers of harming the planet and Spaceship Earth teaches you a bit about history, but really, that’s it. And a lot of EPCOT guests really miss that about the park.

That They Can’t Be There All The Time

On a positive note, the most common response we got was that our readers wish they could be there all the time!

EPCOT

While EPCOT certainly has its issues right now according to a lot of guests, there are still tons of attractions, dining, and experiences to love. And we feel the same way!

  1. Many Educational Aspects Are Gone, that’s because people got bored. We liked it but as the years went on fewer and fewer people actually visited those pavilions much less stayed for any reasonable time.

The tourist today want fast action. Sad but true
