3 Lies Everyone Believes About Disney World Rides

When it comes to fan-favorite activities at Disney World, riding all the rides is the star of the show.

There are over 170 rides and attractions across each of the Disney World Parks. There is quite a bit of lore and theming that surrounds each of the rides that is known throughout the Disney community. There are also some commonly believed myths and misconceptions that are prevalent. I’m here to play Myth Busters!

I recently accepted the challenge to try to do 23 in Magic Kingdom in just 5 hours, and you can see how I did by watching the video right here!

Without further ado, here are 3 of the most commonly-believed LIES regarding Disney World rides.

A ride is “breaking down” every time it stops.

There are a few rides that stop super frequently throughout the day. A misconception is that these rides are “breaking down” or having technical difficulties each time they stop.

Often, these stops are to assist those with disabilities get seated on a ride, to stop situations where a someone is breaking the rules of a ride (like standing up), or to even retrieve something from the ride path.

The Cast Member can’t see if you’re a bit early or late for your Lightning Lane.

When you scan in for your Lightning Lane or Genie+ redemption, the Cast Member sees your name as well as what time your Lightning Lane is eligible for. If you’re within the time frame, it’ll flash green. If you aren’t, it’ll flash blue and tell the Cast Member your actual time frame. The Cast Member then has the option to deny you or override the system to let you through.

If you have a valid explanation, the Cast Member will usually let you through without an issue, so just make sure that you’re kind and honest. Oh, and they can also see what ride you’re supposed to be at when you’re trying to scan in to their ride. A Lightning Lane is not one-size-fits-all.

The single-rider line will always get you on the ride faster.

The single rider line is a useful option for park visitors who are in the parks solo or for parties who don’t mind being split up on the ride itself. Typically, this ride is MUCH shorter and can be a great way to save some time if you’re by yourself.

However, this isn’t always the case, especially at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Here, the single rider line is almost always just as long as the stand-by line, and is sometimes useless! If you aren’t sure what your best bet will be if you’re on a time crunch, just chat with the Cast Members.
