It’s My Literal JOB To Go to Disney World Every Day – And I’m Letting You in on a Little Secret

Who better to take advice from about Disney World than someone who goes every day?

Disney World

We’re constantly bringing you tips and tricks on what to bring, where to snack and eat, and how to make your next Disney World vacation the best one yet… but there’s one tiny secret I need to share with you that will be a GAMECHANGER to your vacation.

I’m not kidding when I say I’m out in the Disney World parks every day. Between work and my free time, Disney World and having fun (even if it’s on the hottest or rainiest day of summer) is what I live for. Most of the time you’ll find me running from place to place, checking the My Disney Experience app to see which ride time is the shortest next, and ushering my family to the requested snack cart or restaurant for our next grub — sound familiar? With all of THIS going on constantly, what I have to say next might be a little jarring for some.

EPCOT Monorail

I’m here to remind you that it’s okay to take a moment while at Disney World. Alright– I just heard you gasp, and I’ll give you a second to recoup yourself. Seriously, it’s okay to just do nothing for a few minutes — or maybe longer, you do you.

Expedition Everest

This is something that I personally struggled with for a long time. With so much to see, do, eat, and reserve in Disney World, it’s hard not to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everything else going on around you. I’m someone who likes to be on the go constantly (seriously, just ask my super tired family what it’s like to spend a day at Disney World with me), and “taking a moment of pause” was never on my daily agenda. But when I finally started taking a few seconds to relax, breathe it all in, and look around at everything around me… it all clicked.

Mickey Mouse

If you’re starting to come around to the idea, desperately raising your hand in agreement, or if I’ve just simply made you raise an eyebrow at this suggestion— here’s how you do it.

It Doesn’t Have To Be Long

Take a few seconds to just refocus your mind and energy. Stop somewhere (off to the side, please — not in the middle of a walkway), sit on a bench, or feel the spring of the hub grass, and take the extra few seconds to really enjoy that sweet or savory snack you just grabbed.

The Hub

Just those few extra seconds won’t make any substantial difference in the line for the next Lightning Lane or parade view, and could be just the trick you need to stave off a meltdown. You can really enjoy the view and the happiness around you, and it will rejuvenate you to get through the rest of the day.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway

Or maybe it’s as simple as taking a few extra minutes to wake up before everyone else in your hotel room and pour yourself a cup of coffee as you look out over the balcony or window. Really revel in the awe that you’re in DISNEY WORLD finally, and allow yourself to feel it like a warm hug.

Use The Tools Around You To Take It All In

This might sound silly but if you’re a strong personality type, you might think you’re fully capable of seeing and doing it all (and you most certainly are!), but why strong-arm your way through your vacation when you don’t have to?

Skyliner Station at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney World is fully stocked with systems in place to allow you to enjoy just being on vacation as you possibly can. Everyone’s version of this “pause” is different. Sometimes that might look like using the photopass photographers to help YOU get in the picture with everyone else instead of being the person always absent from your favorite vacation photos. Don’t be too busy taking photos to remember this is your vacation, too, and you deserve to be in the picture as well!

Maybe it’s little moments intermittently throughout the day. We might all have a love-hate relationship with Genie+, but if you can afford just a few minutes on your phone to “set it and forget it” each time you make a Lightning Lane resrvation in the app, then you won’t feel like you’re so glued to your device throughout the whole day and can really be present with your group or family, rather than feeling buried in the technology. Don’t want to chance it with your phone? Ask the guest experience team at the umbrellas to help you set your next attraction!

Maybe you’re not comfortable taking that pause until you feel like you’ve got everything accomplished. In this case, don’t forget to consider the dining package options for things like the festival concerts in EPCOT, and nighttime spectaculars in Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios to help you get a “spot” for these experiences.

Garden Rocks Dining Package

It’s so easy to spend more time and energy focusing on getting in for these things when you could very simply “knock out two birds with one stone” so to speak by opting for the dining package rather than just the dining reservation alone. This in turn will help you with those extra minutes to really be present and enjoy your concert or fireworks without being so focused on getting just the right place so early in advance that you miss those precious moments with your family and friends.

When You Take That Pause, Really FEEL It

Half the battle will be getting you to “stop and smell the roses” for a bit, but if you’re going to do this, do it right. Really take in everything this pause allows to you experience. Look all around you, take a few deep breaths, hear the sounds as they swirl in the air, and really be in the moments you’re stopped for.

An evening at the Boardwalk

If you don’t, you could truly miss an opportunity to really take it all in appreciating how much you’ve accomplished saving, planning, and getting to experience this trip to the fullest. The one thing I can’t help you get back is that moment if you don’t take it.

And there you have it! That’s my best secret to making the most of your day around the Disney World parks no matter where in the “world” you are. Be sure to check back in with us at All Ears for the latest in Disney tips and tricks.
