A MYSTERIOUS CLUE May REVEAL Blizzard Beach’s Closing Date in Disney World!

Disney World has two epic water parks that we are big fans of.

Summit Plummet at Blizzard Beach

These water parks include some gnarly rides. You can hit the slopes at Disney’s “ski resort” Blizzard Beach or hang out on a secluded island at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. But there’s one thing you gotta watch out for at Disney’s water parks — closures.

This winter, Typhoon Lagoon has been closed while Blizzard Beach has remained open (most of the time). This is common — when one of the water parks is closed, the other is open. This allows refurbishments to be done on one while we continue enjoying the other.

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon

This winter has been a tough one for Blizzard Beach. You may expect that it’s used to cold temperatures since there seems to be a blizzard there all year long, but that’s not the case. We’ve seen it closing over and over as the temperatures in Florida stay low.

But now, we recently noticed that starting on January 28th, 2024, neither of the water parks have any opening hours. They both show closed on the My Disney Experience App through at least February 28th (the furthest we can look on the app).

We also noticed, on the Plan Disney website, that they mention this closure but without any information about it. They also say that when one water park is closed, the other is usually open, but we’re not seeing that on the app this time. It is entirely possible that Disney has simply not released dates and times for Blizzard Beach past this date yet.

We haven’t heard any mention of this closure from Disney at this point. We just happened to come across it on the website. But we’ll certainly be on the lookout for any news and keep you posted!

  1. While it would be nice to have Typhoon re-open by the end of January, this is very likely not going to happen. Disney, for quite a long time, has posted hours for the 4 major parks much further out in time than the water parks. So, while it appears neither Blizzard or Typhoon is open after the end of January, one of them certainly will be. Blizzard will likely be open until March Break, at which point Typhoon will likely reopen. (If 2024 is similar to 2023. Note: If extensive work is required on anything, that will force longer closures)

Typhoon is a more popular park. It can fit more guests. And, it is much better suited to private events (Surfing, rent-the-park, Moonlight Magic, DVC nights, etc)
