One of the most POPULAR fast-food locations in Disney Springs — Chicken Guy! — has been in the headlines a LOT lately.
It started when we noticed that the restaurant cut back its sauce options, but Chicken Guy! continued to garner attention when news began to circulate that one of the locations was facing eviction. Well, it’s easy to get confused by all the hubbub, so we’re here to set the record straight. What’s going on with Chicken Guy!, you may ask? We’re here to tell you.
There are multiple Chicken Guy! locations in Florida, including the popular Disney Springs restaurant. But recently, court documents revealed that the Winter Park location is suffering from nearly $40,000 in overdue rent, according to Click Orlando. The owner of the property at 818 S. Orlando Ave. in Winter Park reportedly filed a complaint for commercial tenant eviction and damages.
The restaurant was issued a three-day notice to pay overdue rent on February 15th, 2024, and an additional three-day notice on March 4th. The March 4th notice reportedly called for the restaurant to “pay rent or deliver possession of the property back to the landlord,” according to Click Orlando. At this time, the Winter Park location is still listed on the Chicken Guy! website.
Despite the ongoing court matter, the Chicken Guy! franchise is still expanding. In fact, nine Northern California counties will soon have a new Chicken Guy! location, per local news affiliate KRON 4. The Chicken Guy! website lists several new locations, including a smaller stand that just opened at the King of Prussia Mall in Pennsylvania.
The King of Prussia Mall location opened on February 8th, 2024, and was welcomed with dozens of positive comments on Instagram.
So, is Chicken Guy! in trouble? Based on all the NEW locations opening (and on the way), it doesn’t seem like this franchise is concerned with the legal troubles at one Florida location.

We grab food from Chicken Guy every trip! Sadly that’s only twice a year. Everything on that menu is delicious and affordable. Chicken is juicy, fries are seasoned perfectly, great coleslaw and the milkshakes! I could wax poetic over them. I don’t mind the sauce options being reduced. Fifty choices was a lot. Here’s something else- the staff is wonderful. They find you quickly and deliver your food. No matter where you are. They get it right every time. I even noticed folks at our Saratoga Springs resort having Chicken Guy delivered. Yeah, it’s that good
