FULL TOUR: Go Inside Walt Disney’s Private Office

We recently had a very special opportunity to see inside Walt Disney Imagineering.

At a recent media event, we were taken into the Imagineering campus where we were able to get a sneak peek at new animatronics for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, see a few robots, and experience the HoloTile floor! As amazing as this opportunity was, it only got better when we got a tour of Walt Disney’s office. We’re taking you on a little tour of the famous officer where all the magic began.

Stepping foot into Walt Disney’s own office was incredibly surreal. To know that where we stood not only Walt worked but many other Disney legends as well. The office was completely restored to its original form in 2015 by Walt Disney Archives. It now includes several original furnishings, collections, and a piano.

When you first step into the office you come up on Walt’s desk which includes many collectibles he had. A signed photograph of himself, a model airplane, photographs, trinkets, and more are found on and behind the desk.

Next to the desk is a chair and cabinet with an old photo hanging above it.

As you walk further into the office, you’ll spot some other cozy spots for his guests to sit while discussing very important (and likely historical) concepts. The list of visitors that came to Walt’s office is a prestigious one that includes Salvador Dali, the Sherman brothers, authors, foreign dignitaries, and more. The whole feel of his office is a very cozy space.

Of course, his famous piano was brought in during the restoration of the office. The historic piano that the Sherman brothers played wonderful music on is set right where it was while Walt was alive. Plus, the library behind the piano is quite extensive and impressive, though we were not surprised by this great storyteller.

Overall, the office is nothing short of a time capsule. Everything perfectly captured how Walt had it while he used the space.

Walt’s Office

Right next door to Walt’s office is a room that was frequently used for brainstorming new content and ideas. In this room, you’ll also find a desk with three chairs at it instead of just one for Walt.

This, too, seemed like a comfy yet creative space. There were also several trinkets and collectibles around it, but you can also find many documents of work.

There is even an original map of Disneyland in this room!

And of course, even busy and creative people like Walt Disney and Imagineers need a space that is a bit more comfortable than a desk chair from time to time.

Near both of these offices is where the secretary’s office was also located. Each of these rooms is at the Walt Disney Studios, which is available to tour. D23 Gold Members regularly get the opportunity to tour the Studio lot and Archives, so if you’re a gold member, keep your eyes out for these opportunities!
